    Role

    The Articling Student will assist lawyers in various legal tasks and provide administrative support in a fast-paced legal environment. This position provides an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in a legal setting while contributing to significant cases.

    The schedule and expected hours are Monday to Friday and 40 per week. The work will be performed onsite 3 days per week and from home 2 days per week based on operational requirements and as agreed upon by the partners. See Appendix A for Articling Student requirements as per the Law Society of Ontario.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist lawyers in preparing legal documents such as mediation briefs, pleadings, legal research memos, contracts, and agreements
    • Conduct legal research on various subject relevant to personal injury cases, or accident benefit cases
    • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsels, legal experts, insurance adjusters and other involved parties
    • Draft correspondence and other legal documents
    • Attending court for motions and conferences
    • Accompanying lawyers during discoveries, mediations and/or trials
    • Managing Small Claims Court matters
    • Perform other related duties based on operational requirements

    Qualifications

    • Must have obtained a JD or LLB degree from an accredited law school in a common law jurisdiction or equivalent before starting articling/clerkship
    • Must be registered in the Lawyer Licensing Process and eligible for articling in accordance with the requirements set out by the Law Society of Ontario
    • Must have strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills – English
    • Must have a Driver’s License and the ability to drive
